BBC Magazine Awards 2014-The Winners

The BBC Music Magazine is one of the leading classical music publications. It is no surprise then that the annual BBC Magazine Awards are a much anticipated event and likely boost attention and sales for the respective winners.

As in all prior years, there are some obvious, expected "big label" winners. These recordings are generally known to the public due to sizeable marketing budgets and advertising. My main is therefore usually on the lessor known labels / winners. Not surprisingly, 100 years after his birth, the two "unknowns" recordings are of Benjamin Britten works. Peter Grimes and the War Requiem are arguably Britten's finest works, so it is great to have them appearing on this list.

I have put together a Spotify playlist of the winners below. Note that not all recordings are available on Spotify, especially the Britten.
