Introduction to Classical Music for You

Classical music in general is plagued by snobbery, endless facts and surprisingly divergent opinions by music critics and the public who follow it. This makes it overwhelming for beginners to even contemplate delving into classical music. Even people with some knowledge or experience may find themselves lost. I am of the opinion that the best way to get to know and love classical music is to focus on enjoying yourself.

Through this blog, I intend to highlight the best of classical music for you. No pretension or formality. Just a focus on one great recording of one great piece at a time. No clutter, no unnecessary complexity.

I'll link you to the best resources to help you discover, watch, listen or buy the recommended recording. Note that I have no affiliation with any recording company and the opinions expressed are my own. I'll share my favourites with you. If you like what you read and hear, then feel free to like and share freely.

A little about me:
My name is Arnaud Wiehe and I currently live in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I am originally from South Africa. As a student, I had a wonderful job at an incredible CD store. I worked in the classical music department and have loved classical music ever since. I don't pretend to know everything. In fact, much of my pleasure is derived from the endless possibilities that classical music has to offer. There are many composers, who have written many works and there are many recordings of those works. This is a journey, there is no destination or end point, rather a series of wonderful steps along the way. I am driven by my desire to share my passion with you. Welcome and enjoy.

I have recently been building my own violin. Below is a picture of the first time I played my first violin.
